facebook down

Facebook is currently down, globally, and apparently, millions of users (including myself) are affected by it. The platform automatically logged users off the platform, and when trying to log back in, Facebook displays the ‘Session expired’ message.

According to the downdetector, there are hundreds of thousands of reports globally and Instagram is affected alongside Facebook, as well.

All the versions of these platforms are affected, including the desktop, and mobile devices, with Android, and iOS operating systems as well, so it’s safe to say Meta is currently suffering a major outage.

Update: Messenger is also affected, and Facebook currently lets users initiate the login process, but it doesn’t respond.

Update 2: Meta Quest headsets are also affected by this outage.

Update 3: Meta released a message, stating:

We are aware of an issue impacting Facebook Login. Our engineering teams are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Meta

However, we don’t know yet what caused it, and Meta will most likely release an official statement soon.

This is a developing story.
